As a child, I always looked forward to going to my grandfather’s house for delicious and finger-licking good BBQ every summer! I always loved his cooking. It brought people together and made people feel good. That was the moment I developed my passion for food and flavor.
My grandfather was born in Detroit, Michigan but settled in San Diego, California, after retiring from the Air Force. His name rang throughout the city for his legendary BBQ, which I always admired. He barbecued anything he could get his hands on, and it was all topped off with his signature sauce, which is tangy and sweet with a bit of heat! The sauce was an instant hit from just word of mouth, and he always wanted the world to experience his cooking.
It has been a lifelong dream to carry this torch. My grandfather’s vision has become my own, and I am honored and privileged to bring it to fruition! Welcome to Jacobs BBQ!
Meet Derrick
Joe Sample is the most amazing pianist I’ve ever heard play an instrument. He recorded an album called “Ashes To Ashes” and it is the soundtrack to my entire life. I have always taken, “The Road Less Traveled,” and it has gotten me pretty far in life. And in my journey I’ve learned there are two things I can’t live without and that’s food and music!
I have spent the majority of my life searching for something that makes me feel good and isn’t a contradiction. Something I want to do, something that adds value and brings people together, and something I would do for free. Jacobs BBQ is that something. Thinking about my seasonings and sauces in people’s kitchens all across the country excites me. It gives me joy. And it gives me something to be proud of.
I’m thankful for the opportunity to share my products, recipes, and family brand with you. Each product on this site is superior and legendary! Everything created comes from love, life experience, and exploring different cultures, but mostly from my upbringing. I hope you enjoy it!
